My role as a wedding photographer takes me to many a magnificent venue, but there's just something about marquee wedding venues that really excites me. Perhaps it's the abundant natural light, the way the tents bring the outside in or even the opportunities to capture a couple's hand-picked decorative details...
Any which way, marquee wedding venues can compete with even the most majestic mansions. Here, I showcase six of my favourites - some old and some new - to inspire your wedding planning journey.
Twyning Park
What could be more romantic than weeping willows and a country house over 300 years old? If you ask me, not a lot! I adore photographing weddings at Twyning Park, which as well as being a gorgeous old mansion is one of the best marquee wedding venues.
You can have a riverside reception with a marquee down by the Avon, which burbles beside the grounds, or go for country luxury with a backdrop of the house. Take a look at the shoot I captured there for some ultra-pretty inspiration.
The Hidden Glade
New to the marquee wedding venues scene, I'm super excited to see the first weddings at The Hidden Glade.
This location is as romantic as it sounds. Picture a teeny tiny castle-like boathouse perched beside a lake, surrounded by forest at every turn. Just imagine how dreamy your wedding portraits could be in that gloriously dappled sunlight!
Keep things classic with a marquee, or pitch a stretch tent on the platform provided for a boho twist.
Bittenham Springs
Located just outside Cirencester, Bittenham Springs is one of the best marquee wedding venues in Gloucestershire for an outside-in celebration. You can get married in the gardens beside the lake - a fairy-tale spot for ceremony photos - and then slip effortlessly into the party with an open-sided marquee just around the corner.
While many are geared up for weddings with grand proportions, this marquee wedding venue works for almost every guest list.
Owlpen Manor
For more formal marquee wedding venues in Gloucestershire, Owlpen Manor is well worth a peek. Manicured gardens and clipped topiary add romance to the soft golden stone of the Tudor house.
It's in this gorgeous garden that your marquee will stand, giving you and your guests the most glorious views. Quintessentially English and unrivalled in charm, this wedding venue will make you swoon!
WildWood Bluebell
If you're dreaming of a knees-up and of bringing the outside in, you'll fall head over heels for WildWood Bluebell.
Make your way along the shaded forest path, illuminated with lanterns and lined with bunting, to the glade where you'll exchange vows. Then it's back through the trees to Munday's Meadow, where your marquee reception comes ready-decorated with a sea of wildflowers.
Norton Grounds
Norton Grounds may not be a wedding venue every day, but for the couples who seek it out it's a stunner. In addition to the newly converted stone barn, you can celebrate your wedding in a beautifully contemporary marquee. Think airy drapes, chiavari chairs and so many opportunities to decorate!
